Product Comparisons

When I visited the Hollister store in Sheffield I picked up a t-shirt to compare it to the products of Hollister and Abercrombie & Fitch's competitors, such as Jack Wills and H&M.

Hollister:

Jack Wills:

H&M:

> The Hollister and Jack Wills t-shirts hold similarities price wise as originally the Hollister t-shirt retailed for £20, however I bought it for £10 in the after Christmas sales, and the Jack Wills t-shirt is on sale for £20.95.
>The H&M t-shirt is no longer available to purchase as it is a few years old, but similar items on the website are priced at £7.99 which is quite a difference to the prices of Hollister and Jack Wills.
> Both the Jack Wills and Hollister tops feature the brands signature logos, Hollister with their seagull and Jack Wills with their pheasant, but the H&M t-shirt doesn't feature any kind of self branding.
> Personally I think the Hollister and Jack Wills t-shirts feel better quality than the H&M top, with the Hollister top feeling the best, however the Hollister t-shirt is the most new and the Jack Wills top has started to show wear and tear with the material beginning to bobble.
> All 3 t-shirts are true to size for their own sizing, however the sizes do not translate across the 3 brands. The Jack Wills t-shirt is a size 16, where as the Hollister shirt is a size S and they both fit me the same. The Hollister shirt is a bigger fit however because it is a "boyfriend" style fit.
> The Jack Wills sizing could also be argued to be on the smaller side as in most brands I would be a size 12, however I have to size up with Jack Wills products.
> The fact that Hollister and Jack Wills are each more of a premium brand compared to H&M being an affordable high street brand, their products have added value and so have a higher price.
> I don't think a plain white t-shirt, such as the Jack Wills top is really worth £20.95 just for the brands logo to be featured on the shirt.
> I also don't think I would have paid £20 for the Hollister shirt but I didn't mind paying £10. The fact that Hollister does offer up to 50% discount means that this will able to their younger target market who will have less to spend.
